SENIOR UX RESEARCHER
Tonal
San Francisco, CA
As the first researcher dedicated to software in a start-up setting, I led two major work streams; User Journey and Audiences. I led and executed foundational, evaluative, and iterative projects of varying scopes.
As a research lead in my XFN pods, I influenced product strategy through data-driven insights that balance human needs with business needs.

Leadership
I led the growth of a founding research team by demonstrating the short and long-term value of UXR through actionable insights and effective XFN communication.
My recommendations clearly articulate design & engineering trade-offs and include prioritization based on business metrics, which led to a lasting impact on both product and business strategy.
0-1
I developed processes, systems, and templates for efficiently executing UXR in a start-up organization.

I led projects that were "the first" of their kind at the organisation. The success of these projects led to increased trust from stakeholders, and confident product & design decisions.
Rigor & Flexibility
The projects I led and executed demonstrate a balance between scrappiness and high rigor. I rapidly delivered research by leveraging a toolbelt of mixed methods within a tight budget and time constraints.

I managed large and complex data sets for deep analysis to create models that have a lasting strategic impact on the entire organization.
Tactical Impact
-
Delivered a scalable typing tool for the entire membership
-
Improved Onboarding Design flow that reduced customer care call costs and increased early engagement.
-
Affinity and aversion tagging system for an enhanced content algorithm
-
Features launched: Recovery Weights, Goliath 2.0, Onboarding 2.0, Routine Planning, Movement Replacement

UX RESEARCHER
Door Dash
San Francisco, CA
I led and owned the Merchant workstream covering B2B research of varying scopes, utilizing a variety of mixed methods approaches.

I served as an SME and a research lead for The first-ever foundational research on Merchants. This work serves as a living manifesto that elucidates merchant values, principles, needs, and pain points.

I led rapid and iterative projects that resulted in successful feature launches within 1-2 months of completion.

B2B
My projects covered restaurant merchants of all sizes and levels from mom & pop shops to national brands and large enterprises.

I worked very closely with the sales and marketing team to ensure the success of features from evaluating product-market fit, developing a GTM strategy, and even post-launch success.
Fast & Resourceful
I delivered product impact within 1 month of each project completion, operating within a very tight budget, timeline, and resources.
Through my creativity in developing incentive systems, and ability to build and leverage strategic relationships, I have delivered research at the lowest cost while maintaining best practices and ensuring confident results.
Logistics and Operations
The success of my projects was a result of my project management acumen. I organized many moving parts of this matrixed team across 3 sides of the business (dashers, merchants, and consumers).

In addition, in-field research required managing on-the-ground operations of businesses and B2B relationships nationwide.
Tactical Impact
The following features were direct results of projects I led;

-
Order Ahead
-
Gifting Function
-
Ship from anywhere
-

Founder & Builder
I had a vision of building the first Michelin-starred Korean-Finnish fine dining experience restaurant in Finland.

I built this restaurant and business plan for 8 months, and within 1 year of operation achieved my goal of reaching profitability and world-renowned status from Michelin and the White guide.
Leadership
I managed a team of 15-20 with 3-4 direct reports. My leadership philosophy is to demonstrate expected standards by example. I invest in each employee generously and empower my team to achieve their full potential in both creativity and technical execution.
